Keep Regular Backups

PROBLEM:

Among the first things we taught our clients about their new computer systems was backup at least once EVERY DAY! They all did, we think, almost religiously.

One day of our clients called and their disk drive had crashed. I said I’d come and repair the system and we’d restore from the back up the day before. I fixed the computer and asked for the backup from the day before, which didn’t exist, then the day before, then the month before.

The only backup that could be found was from before year end about six months earlier. It took them another six months to get all the books and records straightened out. I guess he forgot to run the backups.

Later the next year, he called again…… same problem, same problem……

LESSON:

If you are having a computer storing all your company data and information – back it up! The cost and aggravation and problems of losing all your data is astronomical.
